Flying During the COVID-19 Pandemic Can Be Safe

The transmission risks of SARS-CoV-2 during airline flights were found to be very low and below other routine activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as going out to dinner, when using face coverings, and taking other steps, stated researchers at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Health.

This new report published on October 27, 2020, was led by Leonard J. Marcus, Ph.D. Director, Aviation Public Health Initiative, found transmission risks when flying can be "reduced to very low levels through the combination of layered infection control measures."

Previously, the U.S. CDC stated on October 20, 2020, 'it strongly recommends appropriate masks be worn by all passengers and by all personnel operating the conveyance while on public conveyances and within locations where people board such conveyances.
