Israel's COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate Begins 'Final Stretch'

Vaccine researchers in Israel have begun human trials for the COVID-19 vaccine candidate named BriLife, which, if successful, could be ready for the general public by late 2021, reported Reuters. Overseen by Israel's Defense Ministry, animal studies for its “BriLife” vaccine were launched in March 2020.

“We are in the final stretch,” stated Shmuel Shapira, Director General of the Israel Institute for Biological Research, on November 1, 2020.

According to local media, the country of Israel reported over 2,500 fatalities related to the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020.
