Obese Nurses at High-Risk From COVID-19

A new U.S. CDC report highlights the need for continued infection prevention and control in health care settings as well as community mitigation efforts to reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

Published on October 26, 2020, this Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report analysis of COVID-19 hospitalization data from 13 sites indicated that 6% of adults hospitalized with COVID-19 were healthcare professionals (HCP). And among HCP hospitalized with COVID-19, 36% were in nursing-related occupations, and 73% had obesity.

This CDC report found the median length of hospitalization among HCP with COVID-19 was 4 days and investigational treatments were administered to 48.2% of HCP hospitalized with COVID-19.
