ZDoggMD Explains the U.S. CDC's Death Certificate Data

Dr. Zubin Damania, commonly known as ZDoggMD, produced a new video on August 30, 2020, which helps clarify the U.S. CDC's reporting that '6% of all the fatalities that listed COVID-19 disease only listed coronavirus disease, meaning they didn’t list anything else. It was interpreted by people as being that they were dying “with” COVID and not “of” COVID.

“That could mean ... the people filling out the death certificates weren’t complete, and they didn’t put the other stuff, such as comorbidities, or, COVID-19 was the only thing they had, and they truly died purely of COVID."

On September 4, 2020, the CDC published a new report confirming 'deaths attributed to pneumonia, influenza, or COVID-19 (PIC) reported between 2/1/2020 to 8/29/2020. In total, there have been 278,724 PIC-related fatalities reported.

Based on death certificate data, the CDC indicated the percentage of PIC fatalities for week #35 was 6.6%.
