Will Contact-Tracing Apps Work in the USA?

'If contact tracing apps are following Gartner’s famous hype cycle, it’s hard to avoid the conclusion they are now firmly in the “trough of disillusionment," said an MIT Technology article published on August 10, 2020. There are apps highly ranked in MIT Technology Review’s COVID Tracing Tracker, such as Ireland’s app, which has one of the world’s best adoption rates, with 37% of the population downloaded the app in its first week.

Now that the state of Virginia has launched its digital-contact-tracing app called COVIDWise, Americans will learn first 'hand' how these apps help reduce the spreading of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

According to Reuters, VA Governor Ralph Northam said, “No one is tracking you. None of your personal information is saved.”
