August 3, 2020 • 6:32 pm CDT
The premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, announced on August 2, 2020, an overnight curfew would be implemented across Melbourne — Australia's 2nd largest city — from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. after he declared a state of disaster in the entire state.
Under the newly imposed "stage 4" restrictions, Melbourne 4.9 million residents will be allowed to shop and exercise only within 5 kilometers of their homes. And, just 1 person from each household will be allowed to shop at a time, and only once a day.
Additionally, Andrews announced Stage 3 restrictions will be launched in Regional Victoria late on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
