UK Expects 4 Million Coronavirus Vaccine Doses by 2020

The UK's Vaccine Taskforce Chair Kate Bingham was reported by The Telegraph on November 4, 2020, now estimates that the UK will receive about 4 million AZD1222 vaccine doses from AstraZeneca by the end of 2020.

Previously, Bingham stated in an article published by The Lancet on October 27, 2020, 'The first generation of vaccines is likely to be imperfect, and we should be prepared that they might not prevent infection but rather reduce symptoms, and, even then, might not work for everyone or for long.'

By vaccinating people with a single dose of AZD1222 (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19), researchers are hoping to make the body recognize and develop an immune response to the coronavirus Spike protein that will help stop SARS-CoV-2 from entering human cells and therefore prevent COVID-19.
