Over 140 Million Coronavirus Tests Reported in the USA
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID Data Tracker published data on October 25, 2020, which indicates there have been about 140 million COVID-19 related diagnostic tests completed during 2020.
And, as of October 23rd, the overall percentage of respiratory specimens testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19, was 6.3% during week #42. And, at least one indicator used to monitor COVID-19 activity was increasing in 9 of the ten regions, with many regions reporting increases in multiple indicators.
As an example of these increased indicators, the city of El Paso, Texas issued a health alert on October 25th, stating 'for the next 2-weeks, we are asking you to please stay home unless for essential activities to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and prevent strain on our hospitals.'
