Pneumonia, Influenza, and COVID-19 Related Fatalities Increase

Based on mortality surveillance data available on October 8, 2020, the U.S. CDC reported 7.0% of the fatalities occurring during the week ending October 3, 2020 (week #40) were due to pneumonia, influenza, and COVID-19 (PIC).

This PIC percentage is above the epidemic threshold of 5.6% for week #40, which may change as additional data is aggregated.
