90% of the U.S. Has Reduced COVID-19 Risk

The U.S. CDC updated the COVID-19 Community Level infectious rate for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. As of March 3, 2022, more than 90% of the U.S. population is in a location with a 'low or medium' COVID-19 Community Level.

Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by the use of hospital beds, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

Additionally, people of any age with certain underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for severe COVID-19 illness.

This CDC dashboard presents county-level, model-based estimates of the prevalence for any of five underlying medical conditions that increase the risk for severe COVID-19-associated illness, including chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart disease, diagnosed diabetes, and obesity.

Data published by the CDC empowers providers and patients to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions.
