US Buys 100 Million Additional COVID-19 Vaccine Doses

The US Secretary of Health announced on December 23, 2020, that the administration would purchase an additional 100 million doses of the Comirnaty vaccine on Twitter. Under the terms of the agreement, Pfizer will deliver at least 70 million doses by June 30, 2021, with the balance, 30 million doses to be delivered no later than July 31, 2021.
The Comirnaty (BNT162b2) mRNA vaccine was issued the first U.S. FDA emergency use authorization for a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 individuals 16 years of age and older on December 11, 2020.
